The Hoiho, or yellow-eyed penguin ( Bird of the Year 2024) symbolises perseverance, wisdom and connection to ancestral lands in Māori culture.

Known for its distinctive appearance and resilient nature, it embodies the spiritual teachings of endurance and adaptation, reflecting a deep respect for the environment and its role in sustaining life.

Just like in nature each skull is hand sculpted and unique created from sketches and studies of now extinct, endangered or beloved iconic New Zealand Bird life. The pieces have been designed to hang on the wall or can sit pretty on a shelf or ledge. The skulls are not created to scale for obvious reasons.
